Kharg Petrochemical Plant

Kharg Petrochemical Plant

Sodium hypochlorite production and injection package is installed in industrial catchments to prevent the growth and accumulation of microorganisms, algae and other marine organisms

The package includes electrolysis cells, electric valves controlling the water flow pathway, and a system for rinsing cells with water and acid, a hydrogen separation tank, a storage tank, an acid circulating pump, and a control system and voltage generator required for electrolysis

The system provided for Khark Petrochemical industry has two electrolysis cells with a maximum production of 14 kg pure hypochlorite.

All equipment for the production of sodium hypochlorite, washing the cells with saline and acid and the preparation of seawater are controlled both automatically by the control system and manually. The power supply capacity of the system is 1,200 A with a maximum of 60 volts, provided as two drives for each cell with redundancy, while they both can share the service to supply the power for the cell. These drives are equipped with current control, as the sodium hypochlorite production is a function of electrolysis current. The electrolysis current is therefore automatically controlled to control the concentration.

The level of the storage and dehydrogenation is automatically controlled by the current passing through the cells and there is always an adjustable amount of storage kept in the tank
